Oh the joys of visiting Above The Law and bravely reading through the comments on posts!  Usually I make through the first ten, scroll to the end of the comments, work my way up and even then my attention only lasts about 20 seconds due to the sophmoric content.

But I love it when comments come in from non-attorney staff and are spot on.  In a recent article on whether or not you should give a gift to your secretary (and if so, what item or value), there is this hidden gem:

“I hope all of you cheap bastards who don’t believe a hard-working secretary deserves at least a 5% bonus, whether you are partners or associates, all get herpes, you pass it on to your undersexed, tight-assed wives (or husbands), they divorce you, then you marry a younger spouse who gives you syphilis. Laywers are sometimes unjustifiably the most self-centered, greedy, and elitist people in this country. “

Ahhh, good times.  Good holiday times.

- meant to further the demise of Heller Ehrman, LLP.

Heller Highwater is:

- a place for support, a place of empowerment, a place of passion;

- a place to learn about job leads, resume preparation, skill building, training, new opportunities, and how to succeed in a new workplace;

- a place to keep up on the latest news as to how Heller Ehrman management intends to treat its support staff as it winds down its operations - will it be every woman for herself? or will it be "let me hold the door for you and is there anything else I can do for you"?

- a place of refuge.
