End of the Day: 9/24/2008

Something tells me there won’t be too may more of these “end of day” postings after today’s shareholder video conference.  While the exact course of action isn’t known, word has it that it was a very difficult meeting and those who’ve cried on the inside didn’t hold it in any longer.

I just want to tell everyone especially my fellow Hellerites, that you should look at the shareholders as individuals – much as we all know to look at every person as individuals.  There are many who are rooting for us.  There are many who are so torn up by this entire disaster.  There are many who do want to do the right thing despite what the majority votes may want.

Hopefully you are trying to enjoy your evening.  Tomorrow will be full of posts, lots of hits to this site I am sure.  A recap and then a final word (jeez, I sound like Jerry Springer . . .)

– lots of recruiters have commented and sent me requests to post – please stop by on your way to the midnight buffet

– more attorney postings are coming in – check the attorney recruiting section

– Williams Lea service reductions in most offices and severe almost bare bones staff reductions in some offices as a result of today’s 1:00 pm PDT conference call with Williams Lea employees.  If they are still around please take the time to say “thanks” and ask if they have e-mail addresses – then connect with them and bring them into our network via LinkedIn

And for a final word.  Well, I can’t say it.  I’m going to let Maureen McGovern do it for me.  Now appearing on the Lido Deck singing The Morning After . . . Miss Maureen McGovern!

    And before you all start b*tching about how “touchy feely” the images are on this clip: I felt that clips from the original Poseidon Adventure movie with bodies thrown about the main dining room was and still is totally inappropriate. Get you butt over to YouTube if that’s more your style. Hell, you’re probably too young to realise that there was an ORIGINAL Poseideon Adventure made in 1972.

    As a Heller expat support staff (left early this year after almost 8 years in SF), I am commiserating with my brothers and sisters left behind on the sinking ship. Believe me, there ARE great positions out there for quality staff, and Heller still looks good on a resume. I even got a salary increase in my new job. But, why have ONLY TWO ex-colleagues bothered to contact me for job leads? Please, reach out to x-HEWMsters you know and START NETWORKING. Don’t wait. Recruiters are OK, but your re-employment chances are better with a personal referral.

- Don't be a dill weed.

- Treat other people the way you want to be treated.

- Ladies and children first.

- This is a rescue, not a bitch session.

- Help don't harm.

- Save the snarks for the attorneys and Above The Law.

Heller Highwater is not:

- a place to practice viscious and vindictive "whisper down the lane" rumour-mongering;

- a place to bad mouth co-workers;

- a place for diatribes against specific people or specific incidents;

- a place to heap pity on poor Heller Ehrman staff by outsiders;

- a place that discriminates or sets margins noting who is outside and who is inside - we even welcome supportive Heller Ehrman attorneys!;

- meant to further the demise of Heller Ehrman, LLP.

Heller Highwater is:

- a place for support, a place of empowerment, a place of passion;

- a place to learn about job leads, resume preparation, skill building, training, new opportunities, and how to succeed in a new workplace;

- a place to keep up on the latest news as to how Heller Ehrman management intends to treat its support staff as it winds down its operations - will it be every woman for herself? or will it be "let me hold the door for you and is there anything else I can do for you"?

- a place of refuge.
