W-2 Forms

Just a heads up:

Heller has until February 15, 2009 to send out the W-2 forms.  I have received several emails and some have been emailing staff on the Heller Stay Team to inquire about the W-2s.

Let’s wait until at least mid-February until we get concerned.  I too want to file my return early since I need the refund for basic living expenses.  If I get any update on the W-2s, I will post it here.

    Note that the Heller Ehrman Web site is still up and running, but is utilized only for various internal announcements to former employees and shareholders. (It must come as a surprise to others who enter the site expecting to find news about the law firm. The Dissolution Committee evidently has chosen not to provide any explanation on the site about the demise of the firm.)

    It’s probably a good idea for each of us to check out the site from time to time. Here’s a posting from earlier this month:

    W2s Will Be Sent Out In Timely Fashion – 1/1/09

    W2s will be sent out by the required deadline, January 31. If your address has changed since your departure, and you have not already advised Carol Budinger of your new address, please email your new address to carol.budinger@hellerehrman.com. Please do not copy any other person on your change of address email.

    There needs to be criminal liability for stuff like this–administrative tasks associated with the windup of the business. I wouldn’t be surprised not to receive a W2. Fines mean nothing to Heller Ehrman, clearly. Throw them in jail, and then see how fast they act. Criminals. All of them.

- Don't be a dill weed.

- Treat other people the way you want to be treated.

- Ladies and children first.

- This is a rescue, not a bitch session.

- Help don't harm.

- Save the snarks for the attorneys and Above The Law.

Heller Highwater is not:

- a place to practice viscious and vindictive "whisper down the lane" rumour-mongering;

- a place to bad mouth co-workers;

- a place for diatribes against specific people or specific incidents;

- a place to heap pity on poor Heller Ehrman staff by outsiders;

- a place that discriminates or sets margins noting who is outside and who is inside - we even welcome supportive Heller Ehrman attorneys!;

- meant to further the demise of Heller Ehrman, LLP.

Heller Highwater is:

- a place for support, a place of empowerment, a place of passion;

- a place to learn about job leads, resume preparation, skill building, training, new opportunities, and how to succeed in a new workplace;

- a place to keep up on the latest news as to how Heller Ehrman management intends to treat its support staff as it winds down its operations - will it be every woman for herself? or will it be "let me hold the door for you and is there anything else I can do for you"?

- a place of refuge.
