Position: Associate General Counsel D 1 – Requisition 562043

Description: The person holding this position will be a member of the Litigation group within the Intellectual Property Law Group, working under the direction of the Vice-President in charge of Sun’s Intellectual Property Law group (IP Law Group).  This person will be responsible for managing the Litigation function within the IP Law Group, including managing Sun’s worldwide litigation activities.   Key to this role is the ability to provide high quality, responsive legal advice and to take decisive action under pressure.  Must have a proven track record of developing effective, responsive working relationships with colleagues and clients.

Qualifications: Civil litigation, including substantial experience litigating or managing complex cases.  Substantial knowledge of electronic discovery procedures and processes.  Strong background in intellectual property and technology.  Proven ability to manage litigation budgets and costs.    Minimum of 10 years in the practice of law with at least 5 years experience managing outside counsel or equivalent law firm experience directing litigation cases. Ideal candidate will have substantial  hands on  litigation experience including substantial roles in managing complex litigation matters and/or regulatory proceedings.  Substantive legal knowledge in the following areas is strongly preferred:  intellectual property, complex commercial litigation, antitrust & competition law, contract and licensing disputes, international litigation, and alternative dispute resolution.  People management skills strongly preferred.  10-15 years experience.
