Some Sad News – Robert Harris, Heller Shareholder

This was sent in by a Heller Highwater follower:

“Mr. Robert Harris, our 92 year old partner in San Francisco died suddenly Monday, December 15, 2008. ¬†Apparently Bob fell at home on Sunday and hit his head. He was taken to the hospital and passed away Monday morning.

I worked on the same floor with him for the past eight years. He came in every day dressed in his suit. Lately he used his walker, but he was sharp as a tack and fiercely independent. He never asked for help opening those 10 ton doors ( but everyone helped him anyway). ¬†He started working at Heller in 1940 and at one time shared office space with another young associate, Caspar Weinberger. Back in those days, Mr. Harris was known as “Bobby”.

It was only about three months ago that Heller’s San Francisco office hosted a party to celebrate Ebba Jensen’s 30 years with Heller. She was known as ‘the voice of Heller’. Mr. Harris came to the party too and easily took the good natured ribbing from the current leaders.

Personally I know that Mr Harris was very upset about the demise of Heller Ehrman (White & McAuliffe). It broke his heart. This is just one more great loss for the Heller family. Mr. Harris, you will always be remembered.”
